Unloveable?
There are times that we can feel so unlovable. Maybe the past has included rejection, conditional love, unforgiveness, false guilt, deeper abuse or just a standard that no human can attain from the ones designed or vowed to love us well. When those persons are drawing from within themselves, rather than Christ Himself, these false demands can be put upon us. Sometimes the scars run deep and it makes us feel so unworthy of love, or incapable of ever being fully loved. Even when another human does love well, the wounds can sometimes override the gift and blessing of that action of love.
But the Lord speaks to these pains in our innermost being for He knows the heart. His chief aim is to love well for He is Creator and He is love personified in Christ Jesus. The Bible says GOD IS LOVE. He comes and soothes the ache. He heals the wounds with His words for they are living and active. We only must receive His love, without condition, that He offers. He so tenderly cares for each one of His lambs as He is the good Shepherd, overseeing the sheep perfectly well.
If feeling unloved on a day where many celebrate love for one another, crawl into the arms of the Savior and remember that He loves freely such that He left the throne of heaven to be born as a mere baby. He chose rejection. He chose crucifixion. He chose to take the place of the unlovable and far less than perfect sinner because He can do no less than love with forgiveness.
It is no small thing to sing that simple song:
Jesus loves me, this I know,
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong;
they are weak, but he is strong.
Refrain:
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me he who died
heaven's gate to open wide.
He will wash away my sin,
let his little child come in. [Refrain]
Jesus loves me, this I know,
as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee,
saying, "Let them come to me." [Refrain]
Psalter Hymnal, 1987
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
1 John 4:16
Imagine crawling into the arms of the Lord and allow His love to wash over you and heal any hurt from the past or present. Thank Him for His perfect love for you and ask Him to help you love others well out of the fullness of His unconditional love for you.
